The pre-IBPS era of banking recruitment was so messy, and you know why. IBPS drastically simplified the employee acquisition process of the Indian banks ever since the institution of CWE in 2011. However, in the beginning, conducting a post-exam interview was the duty of the participating banks. Each of them had to release separate notifications, call letter and then organize a country or state-wide interview as a part of it. With the establishment of the IBPS common interview (CI) system, the concerns are finally being sorted out.
So, how the IBPS CI is going to help both banks and the applicants? You know in the past when a bank posts a PO, clerk or specialist job opportunity, everyone with a good IBPS exam score had the option to apply for it. A bank then had to interview all those examinees before they could finalize on a merit list for their firm. Considering the limited number of openings each bank reports every year, an interview of this magnitude is a bother and would essentially take much time to complete. Just think about the energy, resources and money wasted on this.
IBPS’s entry into the interview scene is an outcome of the government level decision to streamline the banking recruitment in 2013. The plan is like this; after finishing the formalities of the CWE like assigning score card and all, IBPS will start with the interview procedures in another schedule. A call letter will be sent to the eligible CWE participants with instructions on date and venue of the CI. Performance of an aspirant in the IBPS common interview as a score will be added to CWE score to format an ordered rank list that ultimately decides who all get a job in the IBPS empowered banks.
The first ever IBPS Common interview was on January 2013 (for PO), and now the latest has been announced, for those who wrote IBPS Clerk exam 2013. Screenshot of a typical IBPS interview invitation is given below.
