IBPS is apparently restructuring the “examination-phase” of their Common Bank Recruitment, changes to rollout from the next cycle onwards. According to the latest IBPS announcement, there will be a Two- Level online exam for all the IBPS Clerk and PO exam appliers, in the 2015 session and beyond. That means, similar to CBSE’s JEE Main/Advanced and UPSC’s IAS prelims/Main exams, the upcoming IBPS Clerk and PO recruitments will involve a Preliminary and Main examination.
- Applicable to PO and Clerical recruitment as of now: The IBPS Preliminary Exam is being introduced as an elimination stage to the PO and Clerk recruitments. Candidates clearing the first level of the exam get an entry to the main and decisive test.
- IBPS’s notification says that prelims will be of shorter in duration, and the number of questions would be limited, in comparison to the final examination.
- Selection of applicants for the interviews will only be on the basis the scores he/she obtains in IBPS Main exam.
- IBPS is yet to divulge the syllabus or format of the Preliminary Exam, but we hear that there would be a “single paper” with GK & banking, English and basic arithmetic questions. We will definitely inform you as more details come out.
Nowadays lakhs of people apply for IBPS bank entrance, and most of them favour the Clerical and Probationary Officer posts. With the new two-stage routine, IBPS can allocate more resources for the final exam, and they can even wrap-up it in a single day.
Dates of the upcoming IBPS Preliminary Exams in 2015.
The noticeable disadvantage of IBPS’s new arrangement is that you have to write two exams. However, we believe that the luck-factor associated with objective tests will be limited from this time onwards, as only the most talented candidates would be able to get through the two levels of the exam.
The participants will also get a little more time for preparing the final exam, the dates of the same is given in this page.
