IBPS RRB recruitment 2016: Registration may start in a few days

RRBs, popularly known as Gramin Banks are a group of banking businesses in India formed by the government in 1976 as per the recommendations in Regional Rural Bank Act. As the name says, these banks are region focused, and their operation is usually limited to the State or District where they are established. Back in those days, the banking facilities in interior parts of the country were pretty limited. The government introduced RRBs to support and up-bring the rural population and the agricultural sector by providing financial aids and guidance. However, nowadays RRBs are facing stiff competition as public and private banks have expanded their presence to the countryside. The government is continually taking steps to revive and the RRBs and their business. Recently authorities have merged several RRBs at the State and District levels. They have brought in a combined recruitment system through IBPS to reduce the HR expenses and to curb the associated corruption. The RRB Recruitment is one out of 4 recruitment processes through IBPS, and it selects Managers, Clerks, and Specialist to the Gramin Banks across our Nation. Have a look at the following sections if you’re planning to take part in the upcoming IBPS RRB recruitment; we have illustrated everything, starting from online registration for RRB exam to the final placement.

Some facts about the Regional Rural Banks or RRBs.

  • The Gramin Banks are nurtured and partially financed by the Central and State Governments; they contribute significantly to the working capital of the Rural Banks.
  • RRBs get a PSU Bank as its sponsor; the designated Public Sector Bank helps RRB in setting up the business by the means of technology sharing, training, attracting funds, etc. in association with NABARD.
  • The service area of each Regional Rural Bank is limited to a particular geographic zone. Earlier, there were around 170 RRBs in India; the number came down to nearly 60 with the merger of several banks.
  • The new government policy is to limit the number of RRBs, if possible, one Gramin Bank in a State. However, you will find more than one RRB in big states with more area and population.
  • The amalgamation helped the RRBs to streamline and improve their credit availability, recruitment process and advertising efforts.
  • Although the RRBs have spread out their business to more profitable areas, the priority is still agriculture and rural banking.
  • RRBs hire their employees like Clerks (known as assistants), and Managers from Scale 1 to Scale 3 through the yearly IBPS RRB Exam.
